Danu Tours & Travels is a Sri Lankan destination management company. Everything we sell, we have travelled ourselves.
A company built out of being asked the same question.
Danu began with friends of friends asking where to go. The answers kept turning into itineraries, the itineraries kept turning into trips, and eventually it became obvious that this was the work.
Twelve years later we are a licensed destination management company handling private journeys across Sri Lanka — but the method has not really changed. Somebody describes the holiday they want, and we tell them honestly what that looks like on this island, in that month, at that budget.
We are deliberately small. We would rather write forty good itineraries a year than four hundred average ones, and we would rather lose an enquiry than sell somebody a trip that will not work.

We travel what we sell
Nobody on this team recommends a property, a guide or a road they have not used. When we tell you a drive is three hours, it is three hours.
We say when something is not worth it
Some famous attractions are disappointing, some seasons are wrong, and some routes are longer than they look. You will hear that from us before you book, not after.
We work with local people
Our guides, drivers, trackers, cooks and fixers are Sri Lankan, paid properly, and mostly people we have worked with for years.

The boring, important part.
- Registered with the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority.
- All chauffeur guides hold current SLTDA guide licences and are insured for passenger carriage.
- Every vehicle in our fleet is under five years old, air-conditioned and serviced on schedule.
- Properties are inspected in person before we place a guest in them, and reviewed every season.
- We hold public liability cover and require proof of travel insurance from every guest before departure.

We asked for a trip that would work for a nine-year-old and two grandparents, which felt like an impossible brief. What came back had shorter drives than we would have dared plan and a pool at every stop. Nobody was tired and nobody was bored.
