The north has only been comfortably accessible since 2009, and it still feels like a discovery. Jaffna is culturally, linguistically and gastronomically distinct, and closer in many ways to Tamil Nadu than to Colombo.
The Nallur Kandaswamy temple, the Dutch fort, the islands reached by causeway across shallow lagoon water: this is the part of the trip that guests talk about for years.
